Hello! My name is Ava Hartmann and I was born and rasied in Austin TX. I am currently a junior at Texas State University! A little over two years ago, I chose TXST out of the nine schools I was accepted to for a multitude of reasons, but one of the biggest was how much I loved the nature and greenery throughout campus. Even now, I still find new parts of campus that remind me why I was so sure about my decision to come here. I originally applied to TXST as a general communications student, but after taking my Intro to Public Relations class while studying abroad in Scotland, I knew that PR was the career path I wanted to pursue. I have always wanted to make a difference in the world, so I decided to add a Political Science minor to my degree and am now confident in the field I want to go into. I am so grateful for all of the opportunities Texas State has given me to explore my interests, grow professionally, and work toward a career that I genuinely care about.
Family has always been such an important part of my life, furthermore I cannot properly share who I am as a person without mentioning mine. I am so grateful for my mom, who has worked incredibly hard to build the life she has today. Her strength has only encouraged me to pursue the things that make me happy, and work hard for my future. I am also so grateful for my step-dad and dad, who have both supported me and played an important role in helping me become who I am as a person. I also have three wonderful family pets: Sarge, Hazel, and Syrio! Sarge and Hazel are miniature wiener dogs who live with my mom and step-dad, and have so much personality for being such tiny creatures. And then there is my literal child, Syrio, who is the best pet in the world and lives with me and my roommate at TXST. He is the sweetest cat anyone could meet and has definitely made living away from Austin feel a little more like home. Even as I get older and become more independent, I will always rely and cherish my family.
When I’m not busy with school or work, I have a few hobbies that I enjoy making time for. I have always liked anything artistic, whether that is painting, drawing, or crafting. During my freshman year, I really wanted to get into painting, so I taught myself how to paint with acrylics, and it has been one of my favorite hobbies ever since. I also really enjoy hiking, even though it can be pretty difficult to do when it is constantly so hot in this state. Whenever I do get the chance to go hiking, I love how energizing it feels. And of course, I also really enjoy gaming, which has been a hobby of mine since I was young.
