Travel

The summer in between my sophomore and junior year, I had the opportunity to study abroad and take my Introduction to PR class in Edinburgh, Scotland! We stayed at Queen Margaret University in Musselburgh, where we were able to experience the area beyond the classroom by meeting and interviewing local people and businesses. Outside of class, we got to explore so many beautiful places throughout Scotland, including Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh Castle, and many other landmarks. The trip also taught me so much about public relations and gave me the chance to see how communication and PR work in a different environment. More than anything, the experience solidified my decision to major in PR and showed me that this is a career I genuinely want to pursue. I also made some really great friends during the trip, and I am still close with some of the people I studied abroad with today! People always say that studying abroad is something that you'll never forget and I didn't believe them but honestly they were so right.

The last big trip I went on was to Ireland, and I got to experience it with my family. We spent time exploring Dublin and got to see so much beautiful scenery, historic castles, and meet some of the nicest people. One of the best parts of the trip for me was seeing just how many red-haired people there were because, as a ginger myself, I finally felt like I fit in, especially since I do not see gingers very often at home. While I loved getting to explore Dublin, I would definitely love to go back to Ireland someday and travel around more of the country.

I have a lot of ideas for where I wanna go next but unfortunately not a lot of money. If I could go anywhere, Germany, Hawaii, Greece, and Japan would all be at the top of my list. I have always wanted to visit Germany because I am 40% German, and my family follows a lot of German traditions, so getting to experience the country and learn more about that part of my family’s background would be really meaningful to me. Hawaii and Greece are both places I would love to visit just because of how beautiful they look. Japan is also high on my list because I have always been interested in its culture, and I would love to experience it firsthand. Hopefully, as I have more opportunities to travel, I will slowly be able to check all of these places off my list!
